Grown up moment #28

This morning I am having a grown up moment.

A moment that sneaks up on you, and you realize that you are no longer young. Your problems are no longer young problems, and your body is no longer a young body. Yes, I knew all of this before now, but at this moment it’s just very present.

My child’s a genius, that’s why he wears a leash.

My toddler wears a leash.

I also give him treats to get him to behave at the grocery store.

I tell him he’s a “good boy” at least ten times a day, and I make sure he has plenty of fresh water.

Here are some words and phrases I’ve read, or heard tossed around about parents like me:

Dear Black Cadillac Escalade

Dear Black Cadillac Escalade,

That parking space was mine.

I waited, patiently for that person to pull out of that stall. I followed all of the protocol: drove around the parking lot, found someone leaving, put on my blinker, smiled as she strapped her two kids into the car. That space was mine.

Wouldn’t You Like To Be A Samso Too?

I saw a show on PBS…

weeks ago…

I don’t remember what it was called.

But it moved me to write a quick note myself.

Here’s what the note said:

Wouldn’t you like to be a Samso too?

HOW TO TWEET WITH THE COOL KIDS- or at least just not annoy the crap out of me on Twitter.

If you’re going to tweet…

do it right.

And yes, of course, I am going to tell how to do that.

Disclaimer: These are my own stupid rules that I made up. However, I am incredibly cool, and almost always right.

She changed the world.

Today, my husband is in Chicago burying his grandmother. I am at home with our son, wishing I could be with him and his family.

Beautiful and Dangerous

I’m feeling philosophical, and I wanna know-
Why are some of the most beautiful things also the most dangerous? Is it a cruel trick by mother nature? Does beauty serve as a warning?

Take, for instance, something as simple as a rose bush. We have these in our back yard.
pretty and smells good
