Kmart’s Fab 15 Holiday Toy List – Giving Me the Gift of Memory
Do you remember what some of your favorite toys were as a little kid? I faintly remember Barbies, Strawberry Shortcake dolls, and My Little Pony… but the three things that get me real nostalgic and weepy are roller skates (used to the Footloose soundtrack in my garage), my Sit ‘N Spin (used until equilibrium was a thing of the past), and the electronic memory game Simon.
Why did I love Simon so much?
Because I ruled at it!
I would beat the game, people. Beat it. The lights would flash and music would play as if to say, “Congratulations, your brain is better than a computer”!
When I saw the new swipe version on Kmart’s Fab 15 holiday toy list, I had to put it on my wish list.
Why? Well, not because I’m sure to beat it anymore… alas, it’s because I clearly need to exercise that memory muscle again. I went from beating a computer with my memory skills as a kid, to currently not remembering where my keys are on a regular basis… or how old I am… or if I brushed my teeth today. Seriously – all I want for Christmas is my memory back.
Of course, my kids found some things on the Fab 15 list that they’re excited about too.
My three-year old won’t stop talking about the Paw Patrol look-out play set. “No job is too big. No pup is too small”.
Meanwhile, every time my six year old does something “kind” or “responsible”, he reminds me that he probably deserves Legos that are also superheroes.
“Kmart carefully selects the Fab 15 toys based on industry trends, input from kids and parents, as well as more than 50 years of experience in knowing what toys resonate with different ages, stages and play patterns. From big toys that make great, unexpected gifts to toys inspired by characters that kids know and love like Elsa, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” You can check out what else is on the list here…
But don’t buy anything until December 7th! This Holiday season, Kmart is encouraging customers to help give the gift of hope by supporting them in their effort to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Starting December 7th, when customers purchase any of the Fab 15 toys, $1 will be donated to St. Jude (up to $25,000).

Seems pretty handy to me.
